Spring Road Trip Full of Camping and Adventure – Let’s Do This!
Introduction
Where do I start? I have this crazy idea to take a month-long road trip this spring in April. Everyday I’ve been growing spirituality and learning to embrace the moment in front of me. Night after night, over the last week, I sit down alone in my room with the peace and silence that comes with meditation.
Moreover, I crack open the window to feel the fresh cold air — there is something about that quality that makes me feel happy. My meditation practice is coming along despite having thoughts in my head — I just tell myself those aren’t my thoughts, they are automated thoughts, or even samskaras, also known as mental impressions in Indian philosophy.
These thoughts or samskaras are blockages from past events that are trying to rise to the surface. To quiet the thoughts is to treat them like objects and simply let them go and relax. I have learned this from reading Michael A. Singer’s collection of books, like the one I’m reading now, Living Untethered (Book Link).
Before I get sidetracked, my meditation has been helping me to see if I should take this road trip. I just sit there manifesting a reality where I’m on an adventure — I visualize what that experience would be like. I tell myself I am receiving travel this spring and thank to god/universe for receiving this opportunity. Truthfully, I am thanking myself because I get to create my reality as I believe we are all god. My excitement took over me on this possibility because it’s a crazy plan to take a month-long trip.
Regardless if I was going to take this trip of a lifetime, I already planned to go camping in the Great Smoky Mountains this spring. This new plan is simply adding on to my original camping trip. The only thing left to do was to get the time off from work. I told myself I’ll put in a personal leave of absence, and whether it gets approved or not, I would surrender and accept that outcome. If it were to get approved, I would take it as a sign that I’m on the right path. As it would turn out, it did get approved, so I’m excided to get this trip started.

Let’s Do This!
With my plan in mind, I’m setting out to experience the moment at every step during the trip. I’m going to continue my meditation practice and reach a higher relax state — I’m counting on pure bliss and unconditional love guiding me.
From my home state of Michigan in the Detroit area I’m driving down to the Smoky Mountains in Tennessee. On my way, I will be stopping for a night in Kentucky in the Red River Gorge Geological Area, camping and hopefully taking a fun hike. It’s a beautiful area and I want to soak it in to truly experience the experience of being there. This park is in the Daniel Boone National Forest east of Lexington — the location is perfect in my planning. Actually I’m going to toss out that word “planning.” I’m going to go with the flow and surrender to the perfections of life. Wherever I go or end up at, that is where I need to be — and I’ll surrender to it, and let go and relax into the experience.
As mentioned, I’ll be camping in the Great Smoky Mountains and spending about 5 days there. There will be hiking and whatever else springs up while there. After all that, my other plans are to go to Grayson Highlands in Virginia, and head north to Shenandoah National Park. From there, I intend to go up into the northeast (a region I haven’t explored yet). Some things include the Catskill Mountains in New York, Salem Massachusetts, and awe-inspiring Acadia National Park in Maine. These are my loose plans at the moment. Whatever happens and wherever I travel, that is what I will do.
